What is Hydro Excavation?Hydro Excavation also known as Hydro-Vac, is the process of removing soil with either cold or hot pressurized water. Hydro excavation equipment combines high-pressure water and air vacuum. This system cuts through the soils and breaks it up. The vacuum then lifts the slurry from the excavation area. The debris is transferred to a debris tank. This allows for a non-destructive and more accurate way to excavate soil and locate underground utilities.
What is Dry Air Excavation?Air excavation offers a dry alternative to hydro-vac excavation, a more precise alternative to a backhoe. It's also a safer (and less tiring) alternative to shovels when exposing underground utilities that your project’s design pathway intersects with or crosses. Highly compressed air is blown around the utility and the soil is simultaneously vacuumed away from the utility. The vacuum system storage tank serves the same purpose as the tank on wet dry vac, except that when the job is done, the same soil can be taken out of the storage tank and placed back into the hole and tamped down to restore the surface to its original state.
DCD Contracting provides hydro excavation services for any project requiring safe, efficient accurate digging in all seasons.
